As my medium is paint, I believe feeling is the unsaid interpretation of painting. This can suggest areas of mysticism, magic, darkness, lightness, simplicity, complexity. To paint is to be in one's own world, a dance one does with the medium of color and form with intuitive mark making. For the LaValise project I used parts that make a whole and vice versa; e pluribus unum was on my mind.

In May 2019, I produced ten large oil canvases at a one month artists residency in LiQiao Shen, a small village outside of Beijing. This work was unseen in storage in China until I received it in LA in May 2024. I then created an edition of twenty 16 x 20" paintings, renaming them The Unseen China Details, from two of the original paintings, China 6 and China 9. The work is a continuation between 2019 and 2024, bridging the gap of time and life. Each detail becomes a new work, a new feeling, a new season. 

All things are part of a process. The artistic vision is composed of all experiences up to that point in time for the artist. Experiences that are known, unknown, repressed, acted out, mindful, conscious, hidden from consciousness; all parts of expressiveness.
